Publications
The Maritime Research Center is embarking on a publication program that
will help to expand the knowledge and understanding of maritime issues
and history. In keeping with its mission, the publishing program will focus
on documents that draw on history to understand current conditions and
future possibilities.
Proposals and submissions for the publishing program are welcome and we
want to work with authors to ensure their efforts meet the highest standards.Submissions
and proposals will be considered for our electronic newsletter,
Anchor & Trident, for electronic (PDF) publication, and in very rare circumstances for
printed publication (but only where wide commercial potential exists).
Most publishing opportunities with the Maritime Research Center do not
provide any financial remuneration.
Specific topics of interest include:
- Ship histories
- Shipping company histories
- Personal histories and diaries of mariners
- Social and economic impact analyses, both historical and contemporary,
of the maritime industry
- Photographic collections related to the maritime industry
Other related topics are, however, welcomed.
Submission Guidelines
By submitting a proposal or manuscript, the author acknowledges that the
submission is for review purposes only and that there is no agreement for
publication.
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically. Most document formats (.doc,
.wps, .rtf, .pdf, pub, etc.) are acceptable. Manuscripts that are submitted
in Word (.doc) format allow us to include comments, questions, and suggested
revisions within the document, providing for a more collaborative process.
If you submit a hard copy manuscript, please submit only a copy. DO NOT
SEND YOUR ONLY COPY.
Email your submissions to
info@MaritimeResearchCenter.com. Please include a cover note that describes your background in the subject
and your full contact information.
Please allow at least six weeks for review. Some reviews may take longer,
depending on the number of reviewers involved.
