Programs and Special EventsOur first program, in November, was a very special luncheon and ship inspection on board the Sapphire Princess. In February, our members had the rare opportunity to visit on board the Queen Mary 2 when she made a call in Los Angeles on her world cruise. And you should reserve the third Thursday of each month for the special, free programs we present on relevant maritime topics. Click here for information on the Third Thursday programs. Over the course of the year we will be offering a variety of programs to help expand knowledge about the maritime world, its history, and its future. In developing the program, we want to make the content relevant to both maritime professionals, ship enthuisasts, and passengers alike. More ship board inspections are also in the works. A variety of issues affect which ships are available for inspections, including their necessary activities while in port, the length of their port calls, and whether the operator actually wants scrutiny of its operations. We are limited in the number of participants we can bring on board for ship inspections. Therefore, participants must be members of the Center and inspection opportunities are offered on a first-come first-served basis.
