OUR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIESResearchWe offer an avenue for research, both in origination and as a medium for sharing studies of the field. Our focus is on the history of maritime seafaring, but encompasses current issues that are informed by a thorough, thoughtful, and critical understanding of history. Our research topics include ships, shipping lines, ports, and--most important--the men and women of the world's merchant navies. We have also begun a project to record information about non-mariners whose lives have been profoundly affected by ships and the maritime industry, such as emigrants, children of sailors, and others.
